We moved the first live equity roundtable on 25 March online, for obvious reasons. More than a dozen equity self-investors discussed with Obermatt CEO Dr. Hermann J. Stern about the current market situation and potentially interesting stocks.
Hermann Stern starts the round with a description of the current situation. The current stock market crash is not the first, but one of the fastest. The markets are already between 25% and 35% lower than at their peak in February. This is comparable to the level of around five years ago. Millennials, in particular, will be happy that they can now invest at more favorable prices. Those who have money to invest should see it that way, too.
Stern shows the course of the major stock market corrections in 2008, 2001, 1987 and 1929. No other correction was as fast as this one. This creates opportunities to buy, but it is also frightening because the markets could also go back to the crash level of 2008. That would be a further fall of another third in Switzerland and Europe and another halving in the US.
Stern recommends what he always recommends: Don't think that you know more than the markets. This means: Always enter the markets slowly. One should allow oneself time, maybe eighteen months or even more. For this reason, the most interesting stocks were discussed at the roundtable.
We will be hosting additional live stock roundtables. The next one will take place in three weeks, on April 15, 2020, just after Easter. Book your ticket. There's a limited number of free tickets for the first 24 hours.
